feature
AI supports surgeons’ organ recognition,
aiming to achieve safer surgical procedures.
- SurVis-Hys is a SaMD(Software as a Medical Device) approved in Japan.
- This was developed in collaboration with the National Cancer Center East Hospital Japan.
- It detects and highlights the ureter and bladder intraoperatively in laparoscopic and robot-assisted total hysterectomies.
- SurVis-Hys supports surgeons by enhancing their sensitivity to organ recognition.
Performance
Performance evaluation tests demonstrated that
SurVis-Hys enhances surgeons’ sensitivity in organ recognition.
A multicenter, comparative study examined surgeons’ recognition sensitivity with and without the use of an AI model. Sixteen gynecologists were asked to solve video sample problems from laparoscopic or robot-assisted total hysterectomy cases collected from 29 centers in Japan. The primary endpoint was the sensitivity in recognizing the ureter and bladder, comparing surgeons working alone to those using SurVis-Hys for highlighting. The results showed that the mean recognition sensitivity for surgeons using SurVis-Hys increased by 14.6 points for the ureter and 15.8 points for the bladder, compared to those working alone.
